The
Canting
Basin
in
Glasgow will be turned into a floating village; it
will be made up of a marina filled with pool boats which the public
will be able to book online. To make sure all the shops, houses,
offices and restaurants stay afloat they will need a large supply of boat
batterys
and leisure
batterys
once it has been built.
A
Manchester based corporation, Floating Concepts LTD has been chosen as
the company who will be transforming the Canting Basin docks into a
floating leisure village unlike no other, complete with a roof top
concert arena.
It’s
predicted
that
the
£30 million pound new development will become
a unique, major attraction which will create a multitude of jobs, homes
and a bustling community that will benefit local people and businesses
alike.
Floating
Concepts
has
revealed
that it will utilise its cutting edge knowledge
of design and technology to create a canal, complete with a floating
roadway. This will be the foundation upon which a mix of two and three
storey office buildings, studio flats and town houses will be built-
all of which will have their own private moorings.
The
floating village will benefit from the already existing visitors to the
nearby leisure facilities and attractions; The Science museum and IMAX
cinema. It will also provide a much needed link between the Media
Quarter- which is where BBC Scotland and Scottish Television currently
resides. Experts believe that the venture will increase the value of
the land of the Govan Docks, which is located to the west of the site
where the new development will be built- Lets hope the Glaswegians have
got their sea legs ready.
