Guernsey
is
planning on changing their rules in regards to allowing motorhomes
onto the channel island in a bid to increase tourism. Before you
leave for your channel island holiday, give your motorhome the once
over especially if you haven’t used it over the winter period.
The
things
to test whilst carrying out your routine checks are; are your
motorhome batteries working properly? You should also check your gas
taps,
regulators, breaks and your chassis as well as that your tyres
are pumped to the right pressure.
If
your
motorhome battery is not working as it should, you can find an
affordable range of leisure batterys online.
After
the
rule change campsite owners will be able to apply for permission
to use part of their sites for motorhomes to pitch up. However,
campsites will only be able to let up to eight motorhomes stay on
their land at any one time. And visits will be limited to just one
visit per month for any one motorhome.
The
use of recreational vehicles such as caravans and motorhomes in
Guernsey has been restricted and tightly controlled since the
seventies, to protect the islands environment. Changing the rules
slightly is hoped to juggle the need to promote tourism on the
island, while still protecting its unique character and heritage.
Director
of
Planning Control Services has said on the subject ‘This proposed
change in planning approach will continue to carefully regulate the
use of caravans and motorhomes, while making a valuable contribution
to tourism on the Island by allowing the limited sitting of
motorhomes at the island's main campsites for overnight visitor
accommodation.’
People
wanting
to visit Guernsey in their motorhomes will be able to enjoy
the stunning scenery the island boasts. You can walk along the
islands many coastal paths and take in the spectacular views, pay a
visit to the capital, St Peters Port a bustling, scenic harbour town
or simply laze away the days on one of the islands sandy beaches-
Guernsey is the ideal location for holiday makers of all ages.
